This will be my sixth year attending these try-outs. My daughter Heather will be a 6th year lifeguard at Huntington State Beach this year, and last year she won most inspirational lifeguard at Huntington Beach. Heather takes her job very seriously and has had some amazing rescues of which I know SHE is very proud and I am as well. Of course I will be there again to watch, take photos, video and support her during her re-qualification swim.
The water temp is pretty cold (for me for sure), however, she manages to get through it and shows pure determination!!! Go Heather!!!
The Huntington State Lifeguard program is an awesome program, has fantastic training, and the Lifeguards also compete nationally. I highly regard the lifeguards as I know how hard they train in order to become a lifeguard, and maintain that status.
