Ten years have passed since that horrific day that our country was under attack. Today is a reminder of all of the emotions of that day. Thousands of people perished as a result of the terrorism, and our country has changed forever as a result of it. Many liberties that we had, were taken from us – because of the insidious terror that existed in our country. It was such an organized event to do such evil. Even today, there are still “credible threats” to our country. It amazes me that it exists within our country.
Ten years have passed – and we all have lived for the past ten years. Watching the Memorial service this morning at the World Trade Center brought me to tears. Reading the names of the victims was so incredibly heartfelt. Listening to some of the children who miss their parent, or or Mother’s missing their children . . . very tragic.
My heart and prayers goes out to all the victims and their families. There were many heroes among them as well.
I remember exactly where I was (as I know you all do as well). I was at a conference at a hotel in Denver, Colorado. Watching the planes hit the towers was one of the most numbing experiences I have ever had.
A couple of days later, I was fortunate enough to be able to get home with a friend and we rented a car together. We drove all night to get back to California. One of the most eerie reminders of the state of our country, was that when we were driving at night, there were no planes, not one because every plane had been grounded. We were fortunate to be able to find a rental car, because they were all gone. In fact, I knew one person at the same conference I was at who went out and bought a car to drive home!
I am glad to see the patriotism that is about today. Even on Facebook, friends have changed their profile pictures, and I see flags flying all over Newport Beach. Even the Banner Tow planes, were towing an American Flag. It looks like the flag is floating in the air!
God Bless America – and may there never be another event such as 9-11.
