Cameo Shores in Corona del Mar Market Update July 1 to September 1, 2011

Cameo Shores in Corona del Mar is a highly sought after community of homes located in Corona del Mar. Cameo Shores is located on the ocean side of Coast Highway in Corona del Mar, and there are approximately 170 home sites. The neighborhood was designed to be terraced so that all the homes maintain their spectacular ocean views and Catalina Island views (with the exception of the uppermost street). And also for the home owners in Cameo Highlands to have ocean views as well.

These Corona del Mar homes for sale were originally built in the 1960′s, however many have been completely remodeled, and rebuilt.

Cameo Shores in Corona del Mar has beautiful private beaches and they are for the exclusive use of the residents. There are gorgeous rock formations, and it is a place to truly enjoy the ocean. There are also tide pools to explore on these private Corona del Mar beaches.

Currently, there are six active listings on the market in Cameo Shores in Corona del Mar. There have been no sales for the past two months. The last reported sale in Cameo Shores in Corona del Mar was in June, 2011 for $8,795,000. All of the active listings in Corona del Mar are standard sales.

Because there are six active listings, and there have only been six sales in the past year creates an fairly high absorption rate.

Cameo Shores is definitely the luxury market in Corona del Mar. The average list price per square foot is $2166.62 and the price per square foot, in my opinion is that high because a few of the properties are ocean front. The sales price per square foot over the past one year has been $1083.06 which is roughly half.

Just a Few More Pictures from the Wedge, Newport Beach, CA

The past few days here in Newport Beach, there was a large swell hitting the south, and southwest facing beaches. One of the beaches is the infamous Wedge in Newport Beach. The Wedge is located on Peninsula Point in Newport Beach,

The waves were quite large, and I was at the Wedge in Newport Beach late last week. However, the waves were large through out most of the weekend, and the were very strong rip currents as well. This was due to a storm in New Zealand!

Some of the body boarders and surfers go out to take advantage of this large well. Please note, these conditions are only for the very experienced ocean swimmer, surfer and body boarder. This is not for a novice, and caution must be taken along the beach as well.

The spectators were out in force along with the television and camera crews at the Wedge in Newport Beach. Look closely and you can see all the people lining the beach!

The Wedge in Newport Beach, CA – August, 2011

The Wedge is located on Peninsula Point in Newport Beach. And with the orientation of the beach, along with the rock jetty, can have very large waves with a south swell.

Today in Newport Beach, there was a south swell, and it was red flag at the beach. The waves were reported to be 10 to 15 feet at the Wedge, and so we went down to take some pictures. The Newport Beach Lifeguards were out in force with multiple boats, and units on the beach. And at about 5:30 pm, the lifeguards took down the black ball flag (meaning no surf boards), and the surfers and body boarders went out to take advantage of the waves.

The photo below was taken when the surfer took the wave, you can see his board to the right of the surfer. Can you say “free falling”?

I also enjoy watching the waves, and the amazing surfers who choose to brave this waves. The Wedge in Newport Beach is not a place for the inexperienced swimmer, or someone with inexperience in the ocean. These waves can be huge, and there can be rip currents. The body boarders and body surfers all use fins to get through the waves (as do the lifeguards).

The two surfers below took the wave at the same time and took a ride together!

And of course, the news shows up and sometimes there are news helicopters as well to capture the action. All in all a great day in Newport Beach, CA.

Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach

Victoria Beach is located off Victoria Street off Coast Highway in South Laguna Beach. It is a beautiful beach and private location which and a great place to explore, swim, and skim board.

Victoria Beach does have public access off Victoria, and it is a fairly easy walk down the stairs, definitely not as steep as 1000 Steps Beach in Laguna Beach. Victoria Beach does have very nice sandy beaches, and there is an on shore break, and rip tides do come up occasionally. It can be treacherous if there is larger surf or high tide. It is always recommended to swim near a lifeguard.

Victoria Beach does not have facilities on the beach. Victoria Beach is a marine protected area.

It is a pretty interesting beach however, because if you hike across the rocks, there is an old light tower, and a pool which was constructed some time ago. The pool fills with the ocean when the tide is high.

The Light House on Victoria Beach is pretty interesting to see and definitely to photograph. It was pretty overcast yesterday as you can tell by the photos.

Victoria Beach offers tide pools to explore and discover sea creatures.

It is a beautiful beach, and does have homes located in the area. There is also a private gated area called Lagunita in Laguna Beach and the residents of Lagunita utilize this beach as well. There are beautiful homes for sale in Lagunita in Laguna Beach, CA. There is no private parking, so if you are intending to visit Victoria Beach, then it would be best to get there early so you can secure parking.

Red Flag at the Wedge in Newport Beach

It was Red Flag!! Yesterday and today, the Wedge was going off with big waves. Not as big as I have seen before, but still I would not go into the water under those conditions. The Newport Beach Lifeguards are out in force!!

You can always tell when the waves are big at the Wedge, as there is lots of traffic flocking to see the waves, multiple news vans and loads of spectators!!!! It can be difficult to find a parking spot, but I always love to see the waves in Newport Beach at the Wedge.

The Wedge is famous for it’s large waves. It is generally not a “surfing spot” however I have seen surfers attempt to take these waves.

The Wedge in Newport Beach is for the experience body boarder, or body surfer, or surfer. These are not conditions for the inexperienced. The waves can be so big, and the location next to the jetty at the entrance to Newport Harbor can be very treacherous!

So I hope you get the opportunity to come and see the waves when the Wedge is going off! And make sure you heed the Lifeguard advice.

Experience the Beauty of Newport Beach Sunset

Last evening, after the coastal fog had burned off, there were some clouds that created an unbelievable sunset. The colors kept changing, and the sky was vibrant with an array of colors.

These photographs were taken last evening in Newport Shores in Newport Beach. Newport Shores is surrounded by a canal and the level goes up and down with the tide.

It is truly nature’s palette.

And today in Newport Beach, there is no coastal fog, and we are expecting temperatures in the high 70′s. It feels like summer, while the rest of the country is getting hit pretty hard with weather.

A Beach Day in Newport Beach

A Beach Day in Newport Beach

Fall has arrived here in Newport Beach, however you would not know it by the spectacular warm weather, clear skies, and people flocking to the beach. There were people swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding. Kids were playing in the sand, and building sand castles.

People were riding bikes and roller blading on the boardwalk, and taking advantage of the beautiful weather we are having here in Newport Beach. I sat on the lifeguard tower at Tower 32 and took pictures and enjoyed the sunshine! I love to watch surfing!

Some of the surfers did not even wear wetsuits . . . I was amazed at the people. And it was a clear day, and easy to to see Catalina Island in the distance as well. The past few days have had Santa Ana conditions with off shore winds, and warmer weather as well.

Beautiful Sunset in Newport Beach

We finally have sunshine here in Newport Beach after a very gloomy June and into July. The temperatures have been warm the past few days and there has been an increase in moisture. There were even some showers yesterday. However, all that moisture makes for very beautiful sunsets. Last night, I took some photos from in the Newport Shores in Newport Beach of the beautiful sunset.

The humidity is supposed be around through tomorrow, so the Newport Beach area feels a bit tropical right now.

Early this morning, there were several rainbows.
