Happy Fourth of July! July 4th is the 186th day of the year. and this is the 237th year which celebrates the United States Independence from Great Britain. The 4th of July Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.
Newport Beach is a great place to celebrate the Fourth of July and enjoy all the festivities. If you planning on spending the day here in Newport Beach, then I would strongly encourage you to arrive early. There are generally very large crowds and parking can be limited.
On the 4th of July in Newport Beach, families get together for parades, barbecues, and get togethers. There are some changes this year if you have intentions of visiting the beach. Make sure you arrive early. There are activities all over town including the 109th Huntington Beach Parade in Huntington Beach and it is “sun, surf and celebrate”. The Huntington Beach Fourth of July parade begain in 1904, and there are many activities during the day including the following:
Lake Park Breakfast 6:30am – 11:00am
Surf City 5K Run & Fitness Expo 7:00am – 12:00pm
109th Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade 10:00am – 12:00pm
There is a Bike and Dog Parade at 38th Street in Newport Beach beginning at 9:00 am.
After the Huntington Beach parade, why not visit Newport Beach to view the Old Glory Boat Parade. Every year, the American Legion Newport Harbor celebrates the 4th of July with the Old Glory Boat Parade. This is an amazing event and to see all the boats decorated so patriotic is always a treat. The boat parade will begin at 1:00 pm after meeting up at Collins Island (one of the islands at Balboa Island).
If you are looking to view this incredible parade from a boat, consider purchasing a ticket for the “Old Glory Boat Parade” Brunch Cruise. It boards at 12:30, and the ticket price is $63.
After the sun sets and you want to enjoy the Newport Beach fireworks shows, watch the There is also another fireworks display at the Huntington Beach pier which begins at approximately 9:00 to 9:30 pm.
Please keep in mind that fireworks are illegal in the city of Newport Beach.
When you are entering the Balboa Peninsula on Balboa Boulevard, which is a main entrance to the Balboa Peninsula at West Balboa Boulevard and West Coast Highway will be closed to vehicles. You can view a map of the road closures here on the Balboa Peninsula.
So if you are looking to spend a day in Newport Beach, be sure to arrive early to avoid the traffic, and attempt to secure a parking spot. And be sure to park in a legal spot, or you will be towed, and please don’t park in front of the resident’s driveways.
