Is your Newport Beach home listed for sale? Does your home have deferred maintenance? It is very important to keep in mind that your home has one opportunity to make a first impression. When someone walks through the door, they will see the home in it’s current condition.
I always recommend to my sellers to “think like a buyer” and what is important to them when they are out looking out properties to purchase. When someone walks through the door, it the home is not clean, or if the home is cluttered or has deferred maintenance, this most likely will affect a buyer’s perspective on the property.
Very few buyers can “look past” deferred maintenance and property that needs a thorough cleaning.
Here are a few tips to consider before listing your home for sale.
1. Clean your home inside and out. Power spray the patios and walk ways.
2. A welcome entry is always recommended. Update gardening, flower beds, and make sure it is a welcome entrance.
3. De-clutter the interior of your home including closets and drawers. Yes a prospective buyer will open the drawers and look in closets. Organize and clean.
4. Take down personal photographs. Keep your home neutral. You do not want buyers to get distracted with personal effects and photos while touring the property. You want the buyers to view the property.
